Down, girl, down!

I think Sarah Palin is a scary woman. I don’t really think we need to get into political arguments here on the blog front so I am going to keep my issue commentary to a minimum—lets just say, she and I agree on absolutely nothing. Nothing. Honestly, I am afraid of the influence she could have--and I think she's crazy.

Someone referenced her as the long lost sister of Rush Limbaugh and Anne Coulter—I would agree! Honestly, did you watch her speech at the RNC? I hate dirty politics (what I say on my blog… not politics—I’ll rip all I want! :)), and that was what her entire speech was—what did she say…something along the lines of “the opposition said they can’t stand McCain—the truth is, they can’t stand up to McCain.” Really? Honestly? And then, trying to strike the fear of whatever deity you may believe in into all of those in attendance? Yikes. Her audience was hooting and hollering like people on that scary movie “Jesus Camp.” McChange? Seriously. Give it up people. And if you think McChange is going to work, you should probably think again…although you might get the votes of the loyal McDonalds patrons.

I feel like John McCain thought that he was going to get a VP to steal the Hillary following—a wise strategy, indeed. He should probably have picked someone a little less intensely right wing . Yikes, McCain, yikes. He’s nearly 105 years old—if he gets in office (which I find unlikely) I will either move to Canada or think about killing myself….but back to the point—if he gets in, and dies from old age (which we have to consider--I mean honestly), we are stuck with her. And that fear, my friends, is why liberals all over the world are taking Xanax in record doses.

As David Letterman said, she should probably have gone into a career which would have suited her better—as a model at Lenscrafters.
She kinda looks like Tina Fey, too, huh? Poor Tina Fey.
(*I hope her kids don't read this. I would feel really badly.)
Let the debates begin... :)

She is VERY conservative. As pro-life and pro-gun as you can possibly be. Ant-gay marriage, abstinence ed, creationism along with evoltion in schools...right down the line, she is in the right half of the right wing.

I wouldn't put a ton of stock in the negativity of her speech at the RNC. That is what the VP is there to do...heck, Biden spent 20 minutes ripping McCain, and he has gone on record as saying he would have taken the VP slot with him if McCain had asked. Presidents are supposed to look serious and magnanimous, and the VP is there to be an abolute bulldog.

And I still don't think he picked her thinking she would appeal to Clinton voters. Seriously, any HRC voter who backs a pro-life, pro-gun, anti-gay marriage candidate just because she has boobs oughta lose her right to vote. Palin was intended to appeal to the very right wing of which she is very much a part...

And she definitly looks like Tina Fey, which I am sure is killing Tina Fey, who I think is super liberal!

I have to admit I'm enjoying watching liberals hate on her. I think they are very afraid of her because she's smart, tough, funny, attractive, and is somebody many people can relate to. How else do you explain the insane scrutiny she's endured. I mean honestly, all the questioning of how fit a parent she is for accepting the nomination while she has small kids. Seriously? That question has never been raised for any politician, male or female, EVER! This is how desperate the left and liberal media are to take her down. And experience? She's had a budget and had to run a city. What has Obama done? Oh yeah, he's voted "present" 130 times and been a "community organizer". I think that's code for "between jobs".

I would just like to make clear that I, in no way, am against her running because of the fact that she has children--in fact, I think that it's admirable. I am against her beliefs...not her ability to be a parent.

Jamie, I have to say I don't really agree with you. Yes, she is right. Very right. But is that a reason to think she's completely crazy? I don't think so. I think she agrees with most of the right side and that would be saying that 50% of the country is crazy.

I agree with much of what anonymous said. I do not think she is crazy and I actually think she is quite down to earth. She gave a very good speech that I thought was very genuine.

I think she's tough. I think she's smart. I think she is funny and attractive. I think she has had at least the same amount of experience as Obama has had. And, she relates well to small towns, which I appreciate.

Ultimately, I've been most surprised by people's intense opinions on her both ways. Since when do we vote for a VP? I think people have put a great emphasis on a woman that will likely play a very small role. And McCain isn't that old. His mother is still alive so he's got some longevity in the family! I think Palin's role will be minimal, at best.

I didn't mean to infer that you were bashing her parenting skills, but the mainstream media sure is.

Her approval rating in Alaska is an insane 86%! That is almost unprecedented! And you have to give her credit for standing up for her principals. She's pro-life and did NOT abort a baby she knew would have Down's Syndrome. In a world of hypocritical politicians, that is refreshing. BTW, I have heard a few polls that show her with an approval rating higher than Obama's. Unless the left can dig up something really shady from her past, she is going to be a force to be reckoned with. And if the left can't find anything, it sure won't be from a lack of trying. And to laurwilk - no we don't elect a VP, but because of McCain's age I do think a lot of people are wondering what kind of president she would be. You also have to wonder if the abuse McCain took at the hands of the Vietnamese might affect his longevity.

Why do you think she's crazy and scary? Because she thinks unborn children should be protected? Because she doesn't think Washington beaurocrats should have the right to tell law-abiding citizens what kind of guns they can and can't own to protect themselves and their families? Because she thinks schools should balance teaching evolution with creationism? Which of her stances do you most disagree with?

jamie said...

I told you already--I disagree with her on mostly everything! I do not believe Washington beaurocrats have the right to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body. No, I do not think creationism should be taught in schools. I mean, if we have the "right" to guns, shouldn't we have the "right" to choose what we want to do with our bodies, and the "right" to believe what we please about evolutionism without having the government mandate creationism be taught to the children in our schools??

I am not a fan of hers at all. Enough said.

A) - It's not your body, it's your baby's body. You had all the choices in the world until it involved another human being. B) You libs are supposed to embrace open-mindedness. One of your favorite gripes against the right is that they are closed-minded. Yet you don't want to at least present the possibility to children that maybe we can't explain everything with science? No mention of a particular God, non-denominational. Just presenting the idea that life is not an accident. Would that be so bad?

AMEN SISTA! ...& thanks for using my Ann Coulter/Rush Limbaugh reference. It couldn't be closer to the truth. She gets in office, O'CANADA HERE I COME!

Hey Tiff/Jamie - Coulter and Rush have both said some very hateful things. What kind of hateful things has Palin said and who was it directed at? Is the media not reporting it? I know I sure haven't heard anything that would suggest she is of the same ilk as a Limbaugh or Coulter. Please explain.

Bomb throwers! If you are going to compare Palin to 2 of the worst examples of the right, you better back it up. That's exactly the problem with political discourse today. You can't back up what you said, all you know is you hate her because you don't agree with her politics, so you try to demonize her by categorizing here with 2 people universally heated, even by many conservatives. Coulter said the 9/11 widows "enjoyed" being 9/11 widows (I'm paraphrasing). Rush accused Michael J Fox of "exaggerating" his Parkinson's. So tell me Tiff and Jamie, what has Palin said that compares to that? And I'm not defending her. I honestly don't care - I don't know the woman. Maybe she is mean-spirited like Rush and Ann. And if you provide the evidence I will tell admit you were right. But don't you think she deserves fair treatment? Wouldn't you want the same for Obama? Come on, pipe up. Admit you're on a witch hunt like the rest of the media, or provide some proof to back up your statements (which I can only conclude are smears at this point)
